Targaryen aerosol can by Eran Mendel

When You Play the Game of GIFs….

Game of Thrones is an inherently shocking TV series. In fact, that’s part of its charm and probably a big reason why it’s so widely viewed. Sometimes however, the sight of a character being eaten alive by his own dogs can be ‘a bit too much’…. The Israeli illustrator Eran Mendel clearly thinks so too, creating a weekly GIF per episode, to put a fun spin on these moments. We especially like the Targaryen aerosol, see it in action here ... http://www.digitalartsonline.co.uk/news/motion-graphics/game-of-thrones-gifs-how-eran-mendel-is-creating-hilarious-weekly-gifs-based-on-each-episodes-most-shocking-moment/

Whatever Floats Your Boat

Everyone seems to be talking about Craig Green’s latest campaign. The current British Menswear Designer of the Year, increasingly known for his groundbreaking campaigns as his captivating designs, released these images on Instagram to promote his AW17 collection. Each of the images correlate to the five looks and colour schemes of the collection and were art directed by Ben Kelway Studio and captured by photographer, Dan Tobin Smith. After recreating the same outfit four times, actors were then fitted into the garments and positioned in a swimming pool so that they would look like a lifeboat or raft.

Sunset Chapel by Bunker Arquitectura

"If You Go Down To The Woods Today"

A gorgeous structure with a very sombre purpose. Mexico City-based architectural agency, Bunker Arquitectura, designed the Sunset Chapel back in 2011 as a place of mourning. In contrast to the wedding chapel they designed two years previous to this, the building is made almost entirely of concrete with a lasting feeling of ‘apparent chaos’, reflecting certain characteristics associated with death. Located on the hills of Acapulco with loads of granite rocks scattered around it, Bunker designed the Sunset chapel to appear as ‘just another boulder’ at the summit of the mountain.

Open in Protest

Last month’s “Unite the Right” rally brought Charlottesville, Virginia to a standstill, confronting store owners with a real dilemma (although we doubt the thousands of alt-right protesters were too concerned with how their actions affected local businesses). Many shopkeepers were worried that if they kept their stores open, they could be seen as aiming to make sales from the event, and that if they closed, they could be accused of side-stepping the issue. In response, Joe Seddon, a local graphic designer put together this sign to give store owners “the opportunity to have a voice they otherwise not have had”. Widely used across the town, it’s simple but bold in its message and we love it!

Purple Rain Dripping From the Walls

A new shade of purple has popped up. It was developed by The Pantone Colour Institute and the Prince Estate to honour pop icon Prince and his inspiring contribution towards music and culture. Known for his association with the colour purple, Prince even had a custom-made Yamaha piano built in this shade. The colour was named “Love Symbol #2” after a design by Mitch Monson, which combines the male and female sex symbols in one and served as Prince’s logo for a number of years.
