PRIDE 2018

This weekend, thousands of people will take to the streets of London adorned in glitter, sequins and luminous body paint, in a powerful movement supporting the LGBTQ+ community.

Pride in London has become a customary event since it began 46 years ago, with festivities continuing far beyond the parade, taking place throughout the entire month.

This year’s theme is ‘Pride Matters’ reflecting that, while Pride means many things to many people - freedom, celebration, protest - it is still as important today as when it first began.

It’s great to see brands playing their part in spreading the love, whether they are raising money, awareness or simply just showing support.

Here’s our pick of the best Pride campaigns of 2018 ...

Harry's 'Shave with Pride' Campaign

HARRY'S

Men’s grooming brand Harry’s has launched a limited edition metallic and rainbow coloured shaving set, packaged in a jazzy box designed by Craig & Karl. Whatsmore, Harry’s is donating 100% of the profits to LGBTQ+ causes.

Burberry

In a tribute to the charities helping to protect LGBTQ+ youths, Burberry has unveiled a new rainbow check. Products such as the iconic scarf, shopper bags and sneakers are now available in this check which, according to designer Christopher Bailey, is a “an emblem for optimism and inclusiveness”.

Brighton Gin’s ‘Colour My World’ campaign

Brighton Gin

Brighton Gin’s ‘Colour My World’ campaign features a limited collection of gin bottles, each donning a colour of the original Pride flag. Designed by Our Design Agency, a portion of the profits will go to The Rainbow Fund, a Brighton and Hove-based grant-giving fund which supports local LGBTQ+ and HIV/AIDS organisations.

The Rainbow Laces Campaign

Stonewall and TeamPride

The Rainbow Laces campaign, run by Stonewall and TeamPride (which includes Sky Sports) won Campaign of the Year at this year’s Sport Industry Awards. The initiative aims to “make sport everyone's game”, ensuring that all LGBTQ+ people can take part in and enjoy sport.

TFL #everylovematters

TfL

Stations along the parade route are set to undergo a Pride makeover, complete with rainbow coloured benches and signage inspired by the iconic flag. The station signs will also be transformed to include the hashtag #EveryLoveMatters.
