Eating in Art

There, customers will gain an immersive experience that heightens their senses; this includes tasting locally-caught seafood, viewing the marine environment, and more. The architecture of the building is also impressive with the appearance taking on a sunken ship which rests on the seafloor and peeks just over the wave crests. For all those wanting to visit, you have until 2019 to book your plane ticket! 

Interior Design Inspired by Climate Change

There are so many beautiful things for artists to be inspired by; there are also terrible things that can be inspirational. Brooklyn-based artist, Fernando Mastrangelo, has been struck by the latter. His rug collection for Edward Fields shows the changing parts of our environment, like glaciers melting and lake evaporating, due to the effects of climate change. Even though the topic of choice is not uplifting, the rugs that Mastrangelo has designed are simply breathtaking. Each rug has its own unique story and look, making each a desirable piece to have in your home. 

Earthly or Extraterrestrial?

Late at night, Kilian Schönberger set out on a mission to capture the strangest sediments in all of the Alps. He found these structures in South Tyro, Italy, where it had become morning and the rising sun created a hazy light of mystery. Immediately Schönberger started taking photographs, which resulted in his series Otherworld. The rocks on top of clay columns appear to be placed by a Magneto-like character, yet reports say they are simply the remains of glaciers from the Ice Age. We will have to leave it up to the government to decide if this is from alien interaction or not ...

Creativity via Coding

As time passes, robots are being designed and learning how to do more and more things. We have heard of robots performing as cashiers, data analyzers, and surgeons; now there is a robot who is an artist. Not only is this robot an artist, it is an Impressionist painter who put on a show for the people of Sokolniki Park last summer. During this exhibition, thanks to the design work of Rosbank, FANUC Russia, and Hello Computer, the crawler robot was able to produce a beautiful painting based on the colors of people passing by after 40 hours of work and 2 liters of paint.  See how the day went above ... 

Sculpture by the Sea

For 21 years now, Sculpture by the Sea has taken over Bondi Beach and Tamarama Beach of Australia to create the world’s largest open-air sculpture event. This event spans 2 kilometers of coast and includes 100 sculptures by artists from all over the world. While each piece of art is uniquely designed, all sculptures are made to interact with their environment. Some of our favourites from the 2017 show are ‘Sea Through’ by Lucy Barker, which is a mesh-like sculpture resembling the movement of water, and ‘Foci’ by Karl Meyer, which is a metal ring sculpture that acts as an eye to nature. We can’t wait to see what will wash up on the beach next year!
